The alleged details of this sexual abuse case are shockingly personal and damaging

Although the dates of the alleged case go as far back as 2000 or 2001, the memories of the victims are clear and the alleged details of the abuse are frightening.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angele Superior Court on behalf of a Jane Doe names the doctors and the university system as defendants–and these defendants will be expected to answer to a number of charges.

Some of the doctors named in the court case have allegedly been accused of sexually assaulting hundreds of patients while working as a gynecologist for the university.

The victims were allegedly subjected to:

  • Sexual contact
  • An excruciatingly painful procedure
  • Touching of body parts for sexual gratification
  • Civil rights violations
  • Sexual battery
  • Negligence
  • Intentional infliction of emotional distress1

Earlier reports from a special committee advised the university system of rampant sexual abuse

This is not the first time that UCLA has been warned of abuses by doctors of their patients in the past.

In 2020, a special committee investigation and report warned the university system of the alleged abuses, as well as an investigation by a Title IX committee that could neither confirm or deny its existence.

In the 2020 special committee report, several current and former UCLA student health center employees who worked with Wiesmeier informed the committee that he allegedly “engaged in the following conduct during exams:

  • ignored patients’ requests that he not perform certain sensitive exams;
  • appeared to become sexually aroused during exams;
  • consistently performed non-standard sensitive exams;
  • Some procedures included unnecessary and repeated touching of the vagina and clitoris.”2

We believe that these victims should be able to address the doctors and institution that were allegedly the source of the humiliating physical and sexual abuse and get the compensation and justice they deserve.
